Antiques, Fine Art & Collectibles. Antique 19th C Wooden Snake Pot Umbrella Walking Stick Stand Asian Wood Carving. DESCRIPTION Antique early 20th century wooden carved umbrella stand. Carved from a hardwood in the shape of a snake this large and heavy pot stand is most likely Asian in origin and dates from the 1920's era. The wood is most likely teak and the country of origin judging from the snakes face is Balinese.
This would be ideal as an umbrella or walking stick stand but may also accommodate a potted plant. The impressively carved snake is superbly detailed throughout his scales which culminate in a magnificent and substantial head with its forked tongue sticking out. This would make a great early holiday, birthday gift idea or house warming gift. This would make a great addition to any antique statuary wood carving collection or walking stick stand.MEASUREMENTS Snake carving measures 17.5" in diameter by 18.5" tall and weighs 39lb 11oz. CONDITION The carving is in good solid condition and ready to be used. There are some holes in the carving which are where natural occlusions occurred in the wood which do not affect its structural integrity.
Please note this item could not hold water as there is a hole on the bottom. There is also some old insect damage on the base underneath which is no longer present (please see all photographs as they form part of the description).
